A message for P5

2nd Apr 2020

Hi P5, I hope you are all keeping well and have been making the most of the dry weather we’ve been having to get out in your gardens or out for a lovely walk. It’s a very strange time we are living through right now, I know I am missing seeing all your bright smiles and hearing your news each day and I’m sure you’re missing seeing your friends and playing with each other in school too. I have really enjoyed seeing the rainbow pictures many of you have created and displayed around the community. It’s lovely to know you are being creative and finding ways to make people smile during this unusual time.

I hope you’ve been working through the booklets we gave you before school stopped. I’m sure your mums, dads and helpers at home are very impressed by how clever you are. Remember to read lots of books, when we can’t actually go on any trips at the minute, books can take you on exciting adventures to faraway places.

The Easter holidays begin on Monday, so do take a break from your booklets and have some time to relax and have lots of fun. I’m looking forward to painting hard boiled eggs and rolling them in my garden, that’s always been an Easter tradition in my family. After Easter we will be putting lots of fun learning activities online for you to work through. The teachers have been working hard on getting these ready. My cat, Smudge, has also been trying to help, he likes to walk across the keyboard on my computer when I’m working from home.

I hope you are behaving well for your mums and dads, especially when they are helping you with your learning and remember to be kind to your brothers and sisters. I know you might feel you are missing out on seeing your friends and going on trips at the minute, but this time will pass much more quickly if you make it enjoyable. Play games, bake treats, make up obstacle races in the garden, grow plants from seeds, paint decorations to put up in your room, do the things that make you smile.

I’ll be thinking about those cheerful smiles and looking forward to seeing them when we all get back to school.

Be happy, be healthy and be safe,

Miss Ross
