A letter for P5K/R

1st Apr 2020

Hi P5,

I hope you’re all well. I just wanted to say that I’m missing seeing you every day. You might not be missing school but I’m sure you’re missing seeing your friends. It’s all very strange at the minute so I hope that you’re being good for your mums and dads and doing your best to help them.

I hope you’re working through your Literacy and Numeracy booklets a little every day. Don’t worry if you don’t get them all finished – we gave you lots of pages and we didn’t expect you to do it all in 2 weeks. Just remember to keep reading! Find a book, series or author that you enjoy and read as much as you can . That will be really important in making sure that you're ready for P6.

All the teachers are busy too, learning how to put work online so that we’ll be ready to go after Easter. Make sure you take a break over Easter and use the time to learn some new hobbies or skills. Why not give baking or knitting a go? If you enjoy Maths and problem solving I think you would like the game chess. You can download an app to teach yourself or maybe one of your parents or brother or sister could teach you. If you enjoy writing, you could keep a diary over the next few weeks. It will be interesting to read back over what you have written about this time when you are older.

I’m trying to learn a bit about gardening. This week’s lesson has been ‘what is a weed and what’s not a weed.’ I think my husband is worried that I might dig up his prize plants!

I hope you have a good Easter with your families and that you managed to get some Easter eggs. I’ve been stockpiling crème eggs so I’d better start doing my exercises in the mornings with Joe Wicks or you’ll not recognise me the next time you see me!

Take care, keep safe and I hope it won’t be too long before I see you again.

Bye for now,

Mrs Kells
